Rocket League esports developed almost instantaneously following the game’s launch in 2015. Since then, we’ve seen hundreds of players come and go, but only a few dozen have made a lasting impact. Today, we rank the greatest Rocket League players ever.
Rocket League was released in July 2015, and the game was quickly identified as a potential esport. Tournaments started popping up that same year, and by July of 2016, we’d already crowned the first Rocket League Championship Series (RLCS) champions. The scene has developed tremendously in the decade since, and has produced some of the most legendary names in all of esports.
We took the heavy task of narrowing all the greats down to a list of 10. Some truly special players narrowly missed out, but difficult decisions are always a part of the ranking process. We were always going to end up with a list of phenomenal Rocket League players, so here’s who made the cut for the top 10 Rocket League players of all time.
The best Rocket League players of all time
10) Vatira
Vatira is the only player in our top 10 that hasn’t won an RLCS championship. That’s all you need to know about the French prodigy. Vatira has been such a beast individually that even his teams routinely coming up short on the biggest stage couldn’t force us to keep him out of the top 10.
He’s won offensive MVPs, he’s won defensive MVPs, he’s won regular MVPs, he plays smart and hard, and if there is any logic or justice to Rocket League esports, Vatira will become a world champion at some point. We’ll gladly push him up the rankings then, but for now, 10th place is all we can offer.
9) Alpha54
Alpha54 may as well be the most underrated Rocket League player of all time. Showing some glimpses of quality while playing for Barcelona, Alpha’s breakthrough came when he was recruited by Vitality to replace Scrub Killa. The new kid on the block helped Kaydop and Fairy Peak to consecutive finals in the pandemic-ridden regional championships, winning it all on the second attempt.
Alpha was the last man standing when Vitality shuffled their roster and became part of an even more dominant lineup that swept through the RLCS in 2023, thus cementing Alpha54’s status as a Vitality and Rocket League legend. Though overshadowed by his flashier teammates, Alpha is well deserving of being acknowledged as one of the best to ever do it.
8) zen
What zen was able to achieve before he even turned 17 is mind-bending. The teenager took everything we thought possible in Rocket League and slammed it into the wall, shattering it in a thousand pieces. The raw talent of the French youngster is like nothing we’ve ever seen before, and most importantly of all, it transferred into winning.
Along with teammates Alpha54 and Radosin, zen’s Vitality swept through the competition in 2023, winning all three regionals, the Split Major, and the World Championship. No other team has done that, and at the time, the young MVP seemed poised for greatness. We’re not saying he’s not anymore; zen is still just 18 years old, but a very disappointing 2024 broke up Vitality’s trio and put a momentary halt on the campaign for zen being the best Rocket League player ever. If Vitality could only find a two-time RLCS champion to join their roster…
7) Fairy Peak
Had things unfolded differently, Fairy Peak could have been in the conversation for the best Rocket League player ever. One of the most versatile offensive players you can find, he has his fair share of clutch goals and dazzling assists, which finally resulted in trophies during Vitality’s first era of dominance.
Unfortunately, Kaydop leaving for Gale Force in 2017 meant Fairy Peak was rotting on subpar rosters for a sizable portion of his prime, which left him with less accolades than he probably would have otherwise. Once Kaydop rejoined his former squadmate, we saw what Fairy Peak could really do with some help—that is, play as a top 10 Rocket League player of all time.
6) jstn
Jstn walked so zen could run. The mechanical star of the Pre-Open era, jstn was capable of otherworldly plays on his day, and is naturally the author of the most bone-chilling moment in Rocket League history. On sheer talent and ability to make highlight plays, jstn could easily top any Rocket League legends list. He basically serves this role here as well, with all players above him being certified winners, or his slightly more successful teammate whose initials are GG. Spoilers!
5) ViolentPanda
Being the teammate of what are universally considered the two best players of all time has turned ViolentPanda into a somewhat underrated figure. We want to fix this injustice. You can’t win in Rocket League without clicking on all cylinders as a team, and ViolentPanda rarely ever missed a beat. Without his playmaking ability to mediate Turbopolsa’s defensive prowess and Kaydop’s dazzling offensive skill, Dignitas wouldn’t have been the powerhouse it turned out to be. For that alone, ViolentPanda deserves a place in the top five.
4) GarrettG
GarretG’s name can officially replace “longevity” in the Rocket League dictionary and no one would bat an eye. Chances are, if there’s a longevity record in Rocket League, Garret holds it. Most games played, most goals scored, most RLCS Finals appearances—GarretG was there from the start and outlasted all of his peers in an esport that has zero tolerance for mediocrity. He may have only one RLCS championship, but it was the result of years of consistent greatness, the type that makes you one of the greatest ever.
3) M0nkey M00n
M0nkey M00n is in a strong position to contend for the title of best Rocket League player of all time eventually, but he’s not quite there yet. The Frenchman’s impeccable defense and composure almost single-handedly put Team BDS on the map. If it weren’t for three RLCS finals losses to Vitality, M0nkey M00n would have had a solid argument for the most legendary run of any player to step foot on the Rocket League esports scene.
After four years, three RLCS grand finals, and two World Championships with BDS, M0nkey M00n decided to join those whom he cannot beat. Now playing alongside zen on Vitality, the path to the throne is clear for M0nkey M00n, but he still has to walk it. There, two legends of old will be waiting.
2) Turbopolsa
We have two remaining slots left, and anyone who even vaguely follows Rocket League esports already knows who the two remaining players are. Kaydop and Turbopolsa are still 1-A and 1-B in the greatest ever discussion nearly a decade after the esport took off. Someone had to come in second, and as much as he wasn’t used to the sensation as a player, Turbopolsa is No. 2 today.
The ultimate winner remains the only player with four RLCS Finals victories, the sweetest of the bunch being a 4-3 drama fest against former teammate Kaydop that secured Turbo’s fourth and final big trophy at the Season Eight Finals. Nothing speaks of his impact on the game more than the fact those four RLCS titles came with four different organizations and three completely different lineups. Wherever Turbopolsa went, success followed—that’s what legends are made of.
1) Kaydop
It’s difficult to go against Kaydop as the best Rocket League player of all time. He has the individual skill, he has the highlights, he has the trophies, and he has the longevity. He has it all. It took a global pandemic to prevent the French legend from extending his streak of five consecutive RLCS grand finals, and even that is debatable since Kaydop’s Vitality reached the regional finals in both COVID-ridden seasons of RLCS, technically extending his run to seven finals appearances in a row.
This is an absurd level of consistency in an esport so volatile, certified legends of the game drop off the map and retire before they hit 25 years of age. Kaydop himself is nowhere near his peak despite being just 26, but that peak was so high and lasted for so long relative to his peers that there can only be one answer to the question who’s the greatest Rocket League player of all time.
The new wave of Rocket League superstars has already penetrated the top 10 all-time list and can only climb up the ladder. Perhaps 2025 will see M0nkey M00n dislodging Turbopolsa and Kaydop from their pedestals, propelling zen into the highest tier of legends along the way, or perhaps Vatira will finally win that elusive RLCS trophy that will allow him to join all the championship-winning greats before him. Whatever happens, one thing’s for sure—this list will require revising before long, because this is Rocket League. Nothing remains stale for more than a minute.
