Palworld has plenty of materials to collect and items to craft on your adventure, though some require you to spend hard-earned Ancient Technology Points.
From unlocking the recipe for your first workbench to the crafting the best weaponry you can wield in Palworld, you’ll need Ancient Technology Points to improve your base and take on the toughest Pals out there.
What are Ancient Technology Points in Palworld?
Ancient Technology Points in Palworld are used to unlock special crafting recipes that are shown in the Technology tree. To find the Ancient Technology tree, open your inventory and click on the Technology tab at the top of the screen. There, you’ll find Ancient Technology on the right-hand side of the screen.
This tree provides access to useful items like the Egg Incubator, Feeding Bags, and Grappling Guns. But before you can unlock items in the Ancient Technology Tree, you must first reach the level required for that particular item and acquire enough points. With the Feybreak update introduced on Dec. 23, players can also unlock items like the Triple Jump Boots, Giant Pouch, and Large-Scale Electric Egg Incubator—items that will greatly enhance your gameplay experience. But you must also complete certain prerequisites like defeating towers before you’ll be able to unlock them.
Getting your hands on Ancient Technology Points requires you to face off against some of Palworld‘s toughest challenges, however, and they aren’t for the faint of heart.
How to get Ancient Technology Points in Palworld
You earn Ancient Technology Points by defeating bosses in Palworld for the first time, of which there are several varieties.
- Tower Bosses: The bosses offer the biggest test of skill in Palworld and award the most Ancient Technology Points for defeating them. For example, after you defeat Zoe and Grizzbolt for the first time, you will receive five Ancient Technology Points. But while the fight is repeatable, you only get the reward once.
- Alpha Pals: You can also get Ancient Technology Points from defeating Alpha Pals, which are significantly bigger than their standard counterparts. They’re marked with a red symbol next to their name and are shown on the map. Like Tower Bosses, you only get the reward for beating them the first time.
- Bounty targets: Palworld’s new Bounty system introduced in the Feybreak update also rewards players with an Ancient Technology Point each time they take down a target for the first time. These bosses are similar to Alpha Pals but are human NPCs wanted for various crimes, like insurance fraud or using pineapple as a pizza topping. You can find Bounty targets on the map much like Alpha Pals; just look for circular NPC icons surrounded by a purple outline. Each Bounty will net you one Ancient Technology Point.
- Cave Raids: Completing these raids is the final method to obtain Ancient Technology Points, which you receive after defeating their final boss. Cave Raids also provide Ancient Civilization Parts, which you need to construct some of the items unlocked by Ancient Technology Points.
Boss fights in Palworld are truly challenging, so make sure you’re bringing a party of Pals that’s well suited for each challenge by referencing a Palworld type chart.
The number of rewards in the Ancient Technology tree is significantly less than the standard Technology tree, so you don’t have to be as selective with your choices about what to unlock, as all items should be available to you eventually.
