Marvel Rivals season one dropped on Jan. 10, introducing new maps and characters, including Mr. Fantastic and the Invisible Woman. Both heroes have skins, but you can get one for Sue Storm for free called Blood Shield.
While a blood and vampire-related skin may not be the most accurate, comic book-wise, it makes sense in season one of Marvel Rivals. That’s because the season centers around Dracula taking over an alternate reality of New York. With that in mind, the Blood Shield skin perfectly plays alongside this theme, and it’s available for free if you’ve got time to grind it.
How to get free Invisible Woman Blood Shield costume in Marvel Rivals
NetEase has already set a trend of giving out skins for your competitive accomplishments with season zero, and the case is no different with season one. You can secure the Blood Shield Invisible Woman skin if you reach at least Gold and have played at least 10 games in competitive play. Season one’s first half is ending on Feb. 21, and that’s when Gold and above players will receive the free Invisible Woman skin.
Originally, Blood Shield was only a reward for Gold in the first half of the season, but that changed in a recent update from NetEase. Silver and Bronze players complained they didn’t have enough time to grind, because, as we all know, life can get busy. In response, the developer assured players that Blood Shield will also be rewarded in the second half of the season as well.
Luckily, you don’t need to finish in Gold. Players who reach that rank at least once will be given the skin, essentially. Unfortunately, we can’t yet fully showcase it, since we don’t have it. Well, nobody has, because it’s still to be rewarded to Marvel Rivals players.
Will the Gold rank reset with mid-season update?
Fortunately, your rank itself won’t reset when the mid-season patch rolls, so don’t be afraid to grinding to Gold for it to simply disappear a few days later. NetEase originally wanted to wipe the rankings on Feb. 21, but after player feedback, the developer backed off from that decision.
Season one began on Jan. 10, and it’s scheduled to last three months, finishing on April 11. The developer will add the rest of The Fantastic Four—the Thing and Human Torch—in the second half of the season. This will begin on Feb. 21, following the mid-season update.
If you want to give the current Fantastic Four members a try, check out Mr. Fantastic and Invisible Woman’s abilities. You can also take a look at how Human Torch and The Thing’s kits look like.
How to get the Blood Blaze Human Torch skin in Marvel Rivals
On Feb. 18, NetEase confirmed another Fantastic Four member will receive a Blood Blaze costume that’s earned by reaching Gold. That is Invisible Woman’s brother, Johnny Storm, AKA Human Torch.
The rules are practically the same. In the second part of season one, players must at least achieve the Gold rank in competitive mode. Unlike the Blood Shield Invisible Woman skin, which becomes available midway through the season, Blood Blaze Human Torch will only be rewarded when it ends on April 11.
How to rank up quickly in Marvel Rivals
If you’re tired of being stuck in Bronze and Silver, and need some help to reach Gold in time to get those sweet rewards, don’t worry. We’ve been there and done that as well.
Being stuck in any multiplayer game isn’t fun, with Marvel Rivals being no exception. Here are a few of our tips of getting out of lower ranks that worked for us.
- Learn at least one hero from each category: Adapting to your team can tip the game to your favor, especially in lower ranks. Therefore, we’d suggest you know how to play at least one character from each of the three categories.
- Communicate and ping with teammates: Matches in Marvel Rivals are often too hectic to know what’s going on in every part of the map. Therefore, ping whenever necessary and communicate your other needs or issues with the others.
- Play what you’re comfortable with: Players often push too hard on others to go for meta picks. However, the truth is, in lower ranks it’s better for you to pick characters you’re skilled on rather than those who are “overpowered” in the meta.
