Tensions boiled over in the closing minutes of the NFC championship game.
The Eagles shellacked the 49ers in the NFC championship game 31-7, beating up on Brock Purdy and Josh Johnson, injuring both quarterbacks en route to Super Bowl 57.
The quarterbacks weren’t the only thing of the 49ers that got hurt — it looks like their pride took a bit of a blow, too. In the closing minutes of the fourth quarter, both teams engaged in a little bit of a scrum that resulted in multiple ejections.
San Francisco left tackle Trent Williams got his money’s worth with the disqualification, rag-dolling Eagles DB K’Von Wallace with a brutal slam.

Both Williams and Wallace were flagged for unsportsmanlike conduct, and both players were sent to the locker room for an early shower. Thankfully, the referees got control of the situation before it really got out of hand.

The Williams penalty was the exclamation point for a brutally undisciplined day for the 49ers. They were flagged 11 times for 81 yards, some penalties crucial moments of the game.
That Williams penalty didn’t occur in a particularly crucial moment, but it did result in a headstart to the offseason.
