The Cincinnati Bengals and quarterback Joe Burrow can negotiate on a contract extension this offseason and it’s no secret the team would like to get it done early.
It also shouldn’t be a secret to fans that the Ohio-born Burrow wants to stay with the team for the entirety of his career.
But it sure doesn’t hurt to hear him say it, right?
Burrow said just that in an NBC clip: “My plan is to be here my whole career. Hopefully Zac is here my whole career…I have a lot of confidence in the front office…I think we have one of the best front offices in the league and Zac in my opinion, is the best head coach in the league.”
The whole clip, via Kelsey Conway of the Cincinnati Enquirer:
The fact this came pretty unprompted has to make it all the sweeter for Bengals fans. Burrow was merely asked about his funny quote about championship windows before going into how he wants to spend his entire career with the Bengals.
While this won’t stop speculation about Burrow’s future or a continued microscope on the Bengals now that the contract extension window is open, Burrow’s using a primetime playoff spotlight to make his intentions clear — he wants to be with the Bengals and nowhere else.
