The top-10 showdown between No. 5 LSU and No. 8 Florida State has delivered through one quarter. Each team has exchanged big plays to set up a 7-7 tie. LSU’s opening drive ended with a dramatic turnover on downs, which was followed by an 86-yard touchdown drive from quarterback Jordan Travis and the Seminoles. But the Tigers, never to be counted out, responded with a touchdown drive of their own to tie the game.
Both quarterbacks have lived up to the hype so far with Jayden Daniels going 8 of 12 for 151 yards passing and Travis completing 6 of 9 passes for 94 yards and a touchdown. That Seminoles score came courtesy of receiver Keon Coleman, who just joined the team after spring practice following a late transfer out of Michigan State. Coleman’s 40-yard touchdown reception included 32 yards after the catch, showing that Florida State has yet another dynamic talent on the perimeter in this Mike Norvell offense.
A three-and-out from the Tigers defense allowed Daniels and the offense to begin marching down the field at the end of the quarter, but Florida State’s defense has held tough in key situations throughout the game.
