The Bills and Lions are now co-favorites to win the Super Bowl.
Buffalo’s odds to win Super Bowl LIX improved significantly at BetMGM after its 48-42 win over Detroit in Week 15. Detroit entered the game as the Super Bowl favorite, but went from +260 to +425 with the loss. The Bills jumped ahead of the Chiefs and now have the same odds as the Lions after a win that wasn’t as close as the final score indicated.
Bills QB Josh Allen has become the overwhelming MVP favorite (-1000) after his recent performances. Allen was 23-of-34 passing for 362 yards and also rushed 11 times for 68 yards. He had four total touchdowns a week after he had six total touchdowns in Buffalo’s 44-42 loss to the Los Angeles Rams.
The Bills (11-3) are two games behind the 13-1 Kansas City Chiefs for the No. 1 seed in the AFC with three weeks to go, though Buffalo has the tiebreaker, thanks to its 30-21 win on Nov. 17. Buffalo has a significantly easier remaining schedule than the Chiefs, too. The Bills play two games against the Patriots sandwiched around a Week 17 game against the New York Jets. The Chiefs host the Houston Texans on Saturday, play the Pittsburgh Steelers on Christmas and then finish the season with the Denver Broncos. Those three teams are all currently in the playoffs, and Patrick Mahomes is dealing with a high-ankle sprain.
It’s a big reason why Buffalo has moved ahead of Kansas City as the betting favorite in the AFC. Before Week 15, Kansas City was the favorite to win the conference at +190. Buffalo is now the favorite at +180, while Kansas City’s odds moved to +240.
Detroit is still a slight favorite in the NFC even as the Lions defense continues to lose player after player due to injuries. The Lions had more attrition on defense in Week 15, as Khalil Dorsey and Alim McNeil suffered season-ending injuries. Detroit also lost RB David Montgomery for the season because of a knee injury.
The Eagles are the No. 2 favorite in the NFC at +210 ahead of the Packers and Vikings at +650. In the AFC, the Ravens are the No. 3 favorite behind the Bills and Chiefs at +375 ahead of their Week 16 matchup against the Steelers.
