Fairburn (Ga.) Langston Hughes Top247 quarterback Air Noland announced his commitment to Ohio State on Saturday night during a live broadcast on the 247Sports YouTube Channel. The blue-chipper chose the Buckeyes over his other finalists in Alabama, Arkansas, Clemson, Miami, Oregon and Texas A&M.
Tabbed by 247Sports as the nation’s No. 7 quarterback and No. 55 prospect overall, the 6-foot-3, 195-pound Noland is commit No. 9 for head coach Ryan Day and the Buckeyes in the 2024 class, adding to a haul ranked No. 4 in the land. Quarterbacks coach Corey Dennis led the charge in recruiting Noland and offensive coordinator Brian Hartline was involved as well.
“Of course they have a great coaching staff,” Noland said. “Coach Day, Coach Dennis and Coach Hartline are the three-headed snake. But what stood out to me was was the way they prepare their quarterbacks on and off the field, regardless of if he’s reading a coverage or a business opportunity off the field.
“Also the people around Ohio State,” Noland continued. “The recruiting staff. The strength and conditioning staff, the coaching staff of course. Also I have a former teammate of mine up there, (Ohio State freshman tight end) Jelani Thurman he played a good role in recruiting me as well. Ohio State fits me from a great standpoint on and off the field.”
In an interview on the 247Sports YouTube channel, Noland also singled out Ohio State’s track record with quarterbacks such as the late Dwayne Haskins, Justin Fields and now C.J. Stroud.
“They develop black quarterbacks into NFL-caliber quarterbacks,” Noland said.
As a junior en route to a 15-0 season and a state championship, Noland threw for 4,095 yards and 55 touchdowns. He visited Ohio State last weekend.
“Of course I got the feeling on the visit but I wanted to make sure 100 percent before I let it out and let Coach Day know I was going to be a Buckeye,” Noland said. That came two days after his trip. “Once I’m all in, I’m all in 110 percent committed.
“I’m going in there to compete for a conference championship and National Championship and hopefully win the Heisman some day. I’m very excited. I think the right time is now. I’m happy to say I’m a Buckeye. The class that the Buckeyes are going to get is going to be a heck of a class. We plan on finishing No. 1 in the class.”
Noland said he found a lot of like-minded people at Ohio State.
“Their business program outside of football,” Noland said. “They have a great business program. I would say everybody at Ohio State wants to make it to the next level which is the NFL. When you have teammates on your team that want to accomplish similar goals you want to accomplish, it’s not going to be nothing but push you and maximize every opportunity. They’re getting pushed at Ohio State, whether it’s the coaches or players each and every day. Everybody wants to get the same end results, to get a conference championship, beat the team up North and win a National Championship.”
Noland will play in the All-American Bowl following his senior season.
