The Minnesota Vikings need to upgrade their cornerback room, but how they do so will be interesting. Will they prefer a more aggressive corner? Is size going to be a priority? How about athleticism? The Vikings end up getting the entire package in the latest mock draft from Pro Football Network’s Ian Cummings.
He has the Vikings selecting Penn State cornerback Joey Porter Jr. Here is what Cummings had to say about the star cornerback.
“Duke Shelley is good. And Andrew Booth Jr. has immense upside if he can stay healthy. But the Vikings’ current CB situation does not preclude them from taking a top-end talent like Joey Porter Jr. Porter has the length, fluidity, and physicality to dominate on the boundary.”
Not only is he a great prospect, but Porter Jr. also has NFL pedigree, as his dad Joey Porter was a star linebacker for the Pittsburgh Steelers. He will have a lot of suitors and will be a great addition to the Vikings’ secondary regardless, but especially if they go to a man-coverage heavy scheme.
