Patrick Mahomes and Joe Burrow have been painted as bitter rivals, which is no surprise after four tight matchups between the Chiefs and Bengals in the last 13 months. Off the field, however, there’s nothing but respect between the two quarterbacks.
NFL Films captured audio of the midfield interaction between Mahomes and Burrow after Sunday’s AFC championship game, revealing a brief conversation that shows how much they enjoy competing against one another.

“Many more, dog. Many more,” Mahomes said when he got ahold of Burrow.

Burrow will apparently be cheering on Mahomes when the Chiefs take the field against the Eagles in Super Bowl 57, a year after the Bengals fell short in Super Bowl 56.
Burrow called Sunday’s tilt a “hell of a game,” which might be an understatement. While controversial calls and non-calls in the second half left a stain on the game in the eyes of some, the frequent momentum swings made the AFC championship game the instant classic fans expected.

The loss is undoubtedly a tough pill to swallow for Burrow, who knows he had two chances in the fourth quarter to go down the field and take the lead, but the Bengals quarterback showed nothing but class moments after it all came crashing down for his team.
For Mahomes, the win had to feel even sweeter than the typical playoff victory. He entered Sunday 0-3 against Burrow in his career, including last year’s upset AFC championship game loss.
The Bengals and Chiefs will meet for a fifth time in three years next season. If Mahomes is right, we might see these two meet for a sixth time next January.
