2024 The Sentry: Prize money, TV coverage, field and more

The PGA Tour’s season-opening event of 2025 is here.

The 2025 Sentry gets underway Thursday in Kapalua, Hawaii, at Kapalua’s Plantation Course. Chris Kirk is the defending champion, and most of the PGA Tour’s best will be there for the season opener, though world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler will not thanks to a hand injury he suffered Christmas Day. Rory McIlroy is also not in the field, and Viktor Hovland’s status is in the air after breaking his pinky toe.

From TV coverage to field information and prize money, here’s what you need to know about the 2025 The Sentry.

The Sentry course information

Kapalua’s Plantation Course is a par-73 layout measuring 7,596 yards. Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw were the architects, and it was the first course the now-legendary duo built together. It was restored in 2019.

The Sentry purse, prize money

The purse at The Sentry is $20 million. The winner will pocket $3.6 million in the season-opening event.

The Sentry field

This is the third year The Sentry will have an expanded field. As of Monday morning, 60 golfers will tee it up at Kapalua, including Xander Schauffele, Collin Morikawa, Ludvig Aberg and Hideki Matsuyama, among others.
