Something delightful is coming around the corner, however.
That would be golf season, heating up as the temperatures eventually rise. With that in mind, here are five things to know about Saturday’s Zanesville District Golf Association Golf Show, set for 1-3:30 p.m. at Zanesville Country Club.

The event raises scholarship funds
Tickets are $5 each, which is a donation to the ZDGA junior program and its scholarships awarded annually to college-bound senior golfers from district high schools. It serves as a chief fundraiser, in addition to its yearly sign drive.
The ZDGA includes players from high schools in Muskingum and its bordering counties — Coshocton, Guernsey, Licking, Morgan, Noble and Perry.
Those 18 and younger are admitted free.
It’s a chance to support local business
A horde of local courses and other organizations will represented with clubs and apparel for sale. In many cases, they are at discount prices.
This year’s list includes Dean Daniels Club Repair, Chad Bucci (Ohio Northern University golf coach), The Veterans Administration, Zanesville Country Club, EagleSticks, Vista, Zanesville Jaycees, Green Valley and Fuller’s Fairways.
Prizes are up for grabs
Ticket entry earns a spot in the raffle drawing for a premium driver of the winner’s choice and other golf-related items.
There are also highly anticipated prize locker drawings, which include various hidden prizes from local establishments and businesses.
Those tickets can be purchased at the show. Drawings will be held starting at 3 p.m.
Live auctions and contests held throughout
There will be live and silent auctions from various items, including rounds of golf from a variety of courses in the region and clubs.
There will also be a putting contest.
It’s a time to meet the scholarship winners
The ZDGA will award more than $8,000 in scholarships to college-bound seniors Noah Dever (John Glenn), A.J. Layton (Philo), Nash Baughman (Tri-Valley), Anna Derwacter (Tri-Valley), Haven Jenkins (Sheridan) and Libbee Baughman (John Glenn).
They will be recognized at 1:45 p.m. for their efforts in the 2024 ZDGA Junior Amateur.
The ZDGA has awarded almost $100,000 in scholarships since its foundation in 1977. Those funds have also helped purchase five AED machines for area golf courses.
