The 2025 Farmers Insurance Open is the 357th event Jason Day has played on the PGA Tour. Wednesday’s opening round was the 1,177th that he’s competed in.
Through all that golf, Day, who’s been on Tour for nearly 19 seasons, has had only 16 rounds in which he didn’t record a birdie or an eagle, according to the guys on PGA Tour Live on ESPN+.
Day’s card through 17 holes Wednesday showed two bogeys and the rest pars with the just closing hole remaining. His second shot on the 576-yard hole cleared the lake that fronts the green, but just barely, and got plugged. From there he was allowed a free drop. With white Malbon letters emblazoned across the front and back of his black sweatshirt, Day chipped his third to about 10 feet. From there, the putt looked good, caught the left edge but lipped out.
So par it was for Day on the last, leaving him with a 2-over 74 and just the 17th time in his PGA Tour career without managing any circles or double circles. He trails leader Ludvig Aberg, who played the North Course Wednesday, by 11 shots.
