Ryan Gerard birdied the final hole to come away with the one-stroke lead at the Memorial Health Championship on Thursday.
The University of North Carolina alum shot 9-under-par 62 at Panther Creek Country Club. It was two strokes shy of the tournament record for a single round, which was set by Rob Oppenheim in 2022.

Gerard posted his first career Korn Ferry Tour win at the BMW Charity Pro-Am earlier this month and is now projected No. 3 in the points standings.
A spate of other contenders also produced blistering rounds. Max McGreevy, ranked No. 7, and Scott Harrington ended 8 under while nine others went 7 under.

Harry Higgs, ranked No. 2, is among 10 tied at 6 under. Incoming University of Illinois senior Jackson Buchanan made his KFT debut and finished 5 under after beginning his round with five straight birdies.
Fellow Illinois alum Brian Campbell was one stroke behind at 4 under.
