The Jordan girls golf team qualified for its fourth straight state tournament in record fashion.
The Jaguars won the Class 2A, Section 2 championship and qualified for next week’s state tournament with a school record, two-day score of 689. They clinched the title with a score of 337 in the second round on Monday at the New Prague Golf Club. That score of 337 is also a new school record.
Jordan ran away with the section tournament as it won the title by 72 strokes over second place Waseca’s 761. Le Sueur-Henderson was third, followed by Albert Lea in fourth.
The Jaguars held a 27-shot lead after the first round last Wednesday at Legacy Golf Course. In the final individual standings, the Jaguars placed two golfers in the top five and five in the top 10.
Emily Henderson was the low Jaguar as she finished in third place with a two-round score of 170 (88-82). Her sister Rachel Henderson was right behind her in fourth place with a score of 171 (88-83).
Abby Oehlerking finished in sixth place with a 174 (88-86). She was followed by Autumn Sivilay in eighth place with a 176 (88-88) and Molly Kelvington in 10th place with a 182 (96-86). Aisha Kim shot a 200 (101-99) to finish in 14th place.
Hubmen
The Jordan boys golf team didn’t qualify for the state tournament but made it to the second round of the section tournament and finished in third place with a score of 662.
Senior Thomas Gutzmer will represent Jordan at the state tournament as he qualified for the third straight year. Gutzmer finished in sixth place in the section tournament with a score of 156 (78-78) to qualify.
In the team standings, Blue Earth Area won the section title with a score of 620. St. Peter was second with a 630 followed by Jordan’s 662 and Glencoe-Silver Lake’s 667.
Jordan was in fourth place after the first round with a score of 338, one stroke back of third place GSL.
The Class 2A state golf tournament will take place on Tuesday and Wednesday at the Ridges at Sand Creek Golf Course just outside of Jordan.
