Masen McKain, a sophomore on the Eastern Florida State golf team, shot a final round 2-over-par 73 to capture the 2024 Platinum Coast Invitational at Rockledge Country Club in a three-hole sudden death playoff over runner-up Mike Chouinard.
Chouinard carded the low round of the event with a final round 69 to tie McKain and extend to extra holes. This is the second straight year the event has finished in a playoff, and Mason becomes the second straight EFSC player to capture the title.
“Masen played very steady today. It was another challenging day with the wind picking up and the greens firming up,” said Rockledge PGA professional Matt Morrison. “We are very proud to have Mason as our 2024 Platinum Coast Champion.”
Rounding out the top five in the Championship Division were Zack McGoffin in third, Daniel Adams in fourth and Grey Cooke in fifth.
Other flight winners included Alan Specht, Andy Purcell, Dean Wylie, Paul Bentley, Kirk Svartstrom, Tracy Frey, Ben Jordan and Tommy Martin.
The Platinum Coast Invitational was the final event in the East Coast Amateur Series and the top players in each flight will be invited to the Championship next month at Sandridge in Vero Beach.
