Shane Lowry’s The Bay defeated Rory McIlroy’s Boston Common Golf Club to conclude the Tomorrow’s Golf League (TGL) triple-header on Monday in Florida.
McIlroy, who along with Tiger Woods is fronting the indoor competition, was playing alongside United States Ryder Cup captain Keegan Bradley and former Masters champion Hideki Matsuyama.
But his Boston team were beaten for the third time in the inaugural season as Wyndham Clark’s final-hole eagle sealed a 5-4 victory for The Bay.
It was the second win of the day for The Bay, who had Ludvig Aberg in their ranks less than 24 hours after his PGA Tour win at the Genesis Invitational in California.
They had earlier beaten Atlanta Drive GC 6-5. The Bay had taken control of their first match by winning three of the first four holes.
Previously unbeaten Atlanta mounted a comeback but Justin Thomas’ eagle putt to force overtime just missed.
In the first match of the day, Atlanta had beaten Los Angeles by the same margin, after overtime.
LA’s Tommy Fleetwood drained a 17-foot putt down the hill to tie the hole on the 14th but Thomas got the better of Sahith Theegala to send the match to overtime.
In the nearest-the-pin challenge, Patrick Cantlay’s ball finished closer than Theegala’s to seal victory.
On Wednesday (00:00 GMT) Tiger Woods returns to action for the first time since his mother’s death earlier this month, with his Jupiter Links Golf Club taking on New York Golf Club.
