Another PGA Tour event will have a new title sponsor in 2025.
Baycurrent Inc. announced a multi-year partnership with the PGA Tour on Wednesday to take over as the main sponsor for the Tour’s lone event in Japan, previously known as the Zozo Championship. The event, which will be called the Baycurrent Classic, will also move to Yokohama Country Club after being contested at Accordia Golf Narashino Country Club since its debut in 2019.
“Since 2019, the PGA Tour’s first and only official event in Japan has played a pivotal role in further connecting the PGA Tour and our players to the passionate golf fans of this great country,” commissioner Jay Monahan said in a release. “The pride Baycurrent holds for both its home country and the game of golf will ensure this tournament continues to make meaningful contributions to our game’s growth in Japan and across Asia while showcasing the world’s best to a global audience. We are also excited about the event’s new home, Yokohama Country Club, one of Japan’s premier golf clubs located in close proximity to Tokyo’s city center.”
The Baycurrent Classic, which is co-sanctioned by the Japan Golf Tour Organization, allows some of Japan’s best players to compete alongside those from the PGA Tour. In 2024, 14 JGTO members earned entry into the 78-man field, with Yuta Sugiura tying for sixth.
The 2025 PGA Tour schedule will feature numerous events with new title sponsors, with the Truist Championship, formerly the Wells Fargo at Quail Hollow in Charlotte, North Carolina, being the most notable.
Now, one of the Tour’s international events will have new branding of its own.
