We’re heading out of football season, so it’s time to put College Football 25 and Madden on the backburner and look forward to spring with PGA Tour 2K25.

Gamers and sports fans got their first look at the latest installment of the golf video game franchise Tuesday, and it features a familiar face. Tiger Woods is once again the primary cover athlete for the 2025 edition of the game, remaining the face of virtual golf since bursting onto the scene with Tiger Woods 99 PGA Tour Golf.

PGA Tour 2K25 may not even be Tiger’s biggest contribution to golf simulators this year after the debut of TGL, the indoor golf league based in Palm Beach Gardens that he co-founded with Rory McIlroy. But while we can only see him at TGL matches a handful of times through March, he’ll be available as a playable character anytime in the new game, as well as … Shooter McGavin?

The 2K franchise will also include majors for the first time with the 2025 edition, though not all of them. Here’s what you need to know about PGA Tour 2K25, including release date, price and platforms:

Is there a new PGA game coming out?

2K announced the latest edition of the PGA Tour 2K franchise is coming soon. The company announced Tiger Woods, Max Homa and Matt Fitzpatrick as its cover athletes across three versions of the forthcoming game. Here’s a look at the announcement trailer:

When is PGA Tour 2K25 coming out? When is the release date?

PGA Tour 2K25 will have its broad release Friday, Feb. 28. The game is available for pre-order now, and ordering the Deluxe Edition or Legend Edition comes with early access beginning Friday, Feb. 21.

PGA Tour 2K25 price: How much will game cost?

The Standard Edition of the game costs $69.99. The Deluxe Edition, which includes early access and bonus customizable items, costs $99.99. The Legend Edition, which includes the same bonuses as the Deluxe Edition plus Tiger Woods “Sun Day Red” customizable items, costs $119.99.

Can you play majors in PGA Tour 2K25? Is the Masters in 2K golf?

Rival company EA Sports had the rights to all four majors in previous years, but 2025 will be the first year the 2K series gets its shot. The company announced the U.S. Open, PGA Championship and British Open will be playable in PGA Tour 2K25.

You’ll notice the one tournament that’s conspicuously absent. 2K has included a replacement course and tournament to replicate Augusta National and the Masters as closely as they could without having the legal rights. We’d expect to see that again until 2K lands the official rights.

PGA Tour 2K25 will have 29 courses available to play, including 26 at launch. Here’s a sampling of the list, according to Insider Gaming:

One of the three courses that will be available after launch is The Old Course at St. Andrews. And of course, players can design their own courses that can be shared with others.

Why was there no PGA Tour 2K24?

Until this year, 2K’s most recent golf game was PGA Tour 2K23. There was no new 2024 edition for the game, though that isn’t anything new for the company. It also went straight from 2K21 to 2K23, seemingly opting for an every-other-year release as opposed to its annual model for its NBA 2K series.

Does EA Sports make PGA Tour 2K25?

EA Sports is the most famous maker of sports video games with the Madden NFL franchise, EA Sports FC (previously the FIFA soccer franchise), franchises for the NFL, F1 and UFC and its most recent foray, College Football 25. And while the Orlando-based company has also made PGA Tour games (most recently in 2023), the upcoming release is by rival company 2K and its HB Studios.

Is Shooter McGavin in PGA Tour 2K25?

One of the bonus features for those who pre-order the game will be Christopher McDonald — yes, the actor who played Shooter McGavin, the obnoxious villain from Adam Sandler’s golf comedy “Happy Gilmore” — as a playable character. It’s in advance of a sequel to the movie that’s coming to Netflix later in 2025.

Where can I play PGA Tour 2K25? Is it available for cross-play?

PGA Tour 2K25 will be available for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC. It will be cross-play compatible, meaning players with the PS5 version will be able to take on those playing on Steam.
