The Anaheim Ducks have recalled forward Nikita Nesterenko from the San Diego Gulls, it was announced Wednesday.
Drafted by the Minnesota Wild in the sixth round of the 2019 NHL Draft, Nesterenko never signed with the team as he was dealt to the Ducks in the John Klingberg deal. He has appeared in 29 games this season with the Gulls, scoring five goals and adding seven assists for 12 points.
Having made the jump to the pro game at the end of the 2022-23 season, Nesterenko has appeared in 12 career NHL games, putting up two goals in the process. Prior to that, he played three seasons at Boston College (NCAA).
As Nesterenko gets the opportunity to appear in his first NHL game this season, he would fit in well in the Ducks bottom six. A skilled player who moves the puck efficiently, Nesterenko has shown he can hang at the NHL level.
