The Chicago Blackhawks, who have been playing much better lately, are a team loaded with young players. On any night, they have 8-10 players in the lineup who are 23 years old or younger.
That number is set to increase as they have called up 2024 second-overall pick Artyom Levshunov. The former Michigan State star defenseman has played this season for the Rockford IceHogs of the AHL.

Levshunov is still working on his offensive game, but his defensive play has been good at the AHL level. With Rockford this season, Levshunov has 5 goals and 17 assists for 22 points in 50 games. Now, he could be getting his chance to make his NHL debut.
During the AHL All-Star break, Chicago called up Levshunov to practice with the NHL club but he didn’t play in a game. Practicing with the big club was good motivation and insight into what the future holds for him.
Levshunov was on Rockford’s roster at the NHL Trade Deadline so he is eligible to play in the Calder Cup Playoffs no matter what happens this year.
His first chance to get in the lineup will be against the Colorado Avalanche on Monday night but we will have to wait until Monday to hear Anders Sorensen’s plans.
