The Buffalo Sabres have assigned forward Tyson Kozak to the Rochester Americans, it was announced Saturday.
Kozak was assigned to the AHL after Ryan McLeod was activated off of injured reserve.
Drafted by the Sabres in the seventh round of the 2021 NHL Draft, Kozak has split time between Buffalo and Rochester this season. In nine NHL games, Kozak has scored one goal while putting up six goals and 12 points in 24 AHL games.
Having turned pro with the Americans in 2022-23, Kozak has appeared in 120 career AHL regular season games, accumulating 16 goals and 34 points in the process.
With this season being the first year of his pro career where he has seen NHL games, Kozak has come a long way since being a seventh round pick. As someone who has continually gotten better over the past few seasons, Kozak adds solid depth to the Sabres and could challenge for a full-time spot in the near future.
