The Calgary Flames announced Anthony Mantha will be out for the rest of the 2024-25 NHL season.
Mantha requires surgery for an ACL injury, which is scheduled for Thursday.
The right winger last played on Nov. 5 against the Montreal Canadiens. On his sixth shift of the game, Mantha received a hit from the Canadiens’ Emil Heineman, which caused him to fall awkwardly into the boards.
Mantha signed a one-year, $3.5-million contract with the Flames on the first day of NHL free agency after splitting last season between the Washington Capitals and Vegas Golden Knights. In his 13 games this season, Mantha had four goals and seven points, including two three-game point streaks and a game-winning goal against the Edmonton Oilers on Oct. 13.
