After suffering a 3-2 overtime loss to the Utah Hockey Club on Wednesday, the Vancouver Canucks (16-9-6) are back at it on Thursday when they take on the Vegas Golden Knights (20-8-3). Last season, these two Pacific Division rivals split their four-game season series, with each team picking up a win at home and on the road. This will be the first of four matchups this season, with Vegas and Vancouver next meeting at the end of February.

Comparing The Canucks Home & Away Statistics Through The First 30 Games Of The 2024-25 Season
For the Canucks to be successful, they need to have a strong first period. Yes, the team will be tired as they did play the night before, but the need to find a way to at least match the Golden Knights energy in the first period. If they allow Vegas to come at them in waves, the game could be over before the puck drop in the second period.
Players to Watch:
Dakota Joshua:
While it has taken some time, Dakota Joshua is starting to find his groove. He had a goal against Utah and is a physical presence every night. If Joshua can start getting on a roll, he should be able to help Vancouver’s bottom six create more consistent offence.
Tanner Pearson:
If history has taught fans anything, it is that former Canucks love scoring against their old teams. While Tanner Pearson is playing in the bottom six, he is always a threat to score and will be looking to snap a nine game goalless streak. Look for Pearson to not just create offensively, but play a physical game as he is currently on pace to surpass 100 hits for the first time since the 2017-18 season.
