CHICAGO- The Chicago Blackhawks know that they have a stud in Connor Bedard. There are detractors because there are other parts of his game that need work (as is the case for every teenage NHL player) but there is no denying his offensive upside.
In Monday night’s game against the Calgary Flames, Bedard earned his 100th career point on a power play goal for Chicago. A five-minute major penalty was called on the Flames and Bedard scored early in the man-advantage.
It took Bedard a total of 112 games to reach this milestone. That pace at this age is one of many signs that Bedard is something special.
Bedard’s first 100 points are made up of 34 goals and 66 assists. Coming out of junior, he was touted as this big-time goal scorer but his playmaking is equally as exceptional.
Having 100 career points in the NHL is not achieved by many and Bedard did it before he even turned 20 years old. The upside that he brings to the table is as good as any second-year player in the league right now.
All of these points have come on a Blackhawks team that is amongst the worst in the NHL. For Bedard to put up this many points this quickly is incredible.
The sky is the limit for Bedard. He has the talent needed to have over a decade played in the NHL with 1000+ points. His first 100 are already in the books.
Bedard’s next 100 will likely come in fewer than his next 100 games played. Big things were expected of him and he is already delivering the goods. It only gets better from here.
