The Vegas Golden Knights have announced that former St. Louis Blues captain Alex Pietrangelo has withdrawn from the 4 Nations Face-Off due to an ongoing ailment.
This is certainly tough news for Team Canada, as Pietrangelo was expected to be an important part of their defense for the tournament. However, with the right-shot blueliner dealing with an ailment, it is understandable that he has decided to step out of the tournament.
The Golden Knights have high expectations for the season, so it makes sense that Pietrangelo wants to rest during the break rather than play.
Pietrangelo is having a solid season for Vegas in 2024-25, posting three goals, 25 points, and a plus-11 rating in 46 games. This is after he had four goals and 33 points in 64 games with the Golden Knights last season.
In 758 games over 12 seasons as a Blue, Pietrangelo had 190 goals, 450 points, and a plus-77 rating.
