Oliver Kylington, a Flames second round pick (60th overall) from the 2015 Draft was dealt from the Colorado Avalanche to the New York Islanders in a blockbuster deal involving Brock Nelson.
As soon as the ink dried on that trade paperwork, the Islanders sent Kylington to the Anaheim Ducks for future considerations.
After six seasons in Calgary, Kylington signed a free agent with the Avalanche on Aug. 5, 2004. In 13 games, he scored a goal and collected four points.
The 27-year-old from Stockholm, Sweden debuted in 2015-16 for one game, then was in and out of the lineup for years before becoming a regular in 2021-22, playing a career high 73 games with nine goals and 31 points.
Interestingly, Kylington made headlines for sitting out a season and a half (2022 to 2024) to focus on his mental health in Sweden. His return last season led to a standing ovation at the Saddledome.
In 214 games, he’s scored 18 goals with 41 assists and 59 points.
