DeAngelo, 29, had six goals and 32 points in 34 games this season with SKA St. Petersburg of the KHL. Earlier this month, the right-shot defenseman and KHL squad mutually terminated his contract due to family reasons. Now, DeAngelo is heading back to the NHL.
DeAngelo spent this past season with the Carolina Hurricanes. In 31 games with the Canes in 2023-24, he had three goals, 11 points, and a minus-7 rating. This was after he had 11 goals, 42 points, and a minus-27 rating in 70 games with the Flyers in 2022-23.
Before DeAngelo can play for the Islanders, he must clear waivers, as he started this season in the KHL.
