Former Vegas Golden Knights forward Erik Haula has been named to Finland’s 4 Nations Face-Off roster. The tournament is set to be played from Feb 12, 2025, to Feb 20, 2025, with Finland, Canada, Sweden and the USA participating.
The 33-year-old played with the Golden Knights during their first two seasons, setting a career-high in his debut season with the Golden Knights. After the Golden Knights selected him in the expansion draft from the Minnesota Wild, he recorded 29 goals and 55 points in 79 games.
After the Golden Knights traded Haula to the Carolina Hurricanes for Nicolas Roy, he bounced around a bit, spending time with the Florida Panthers, Nashville Predators, Boston Bruins and now the New Jersey Devils.
The 2009, seventh-round pick is a defensively sound centreman who kills penalties and wins face-offs at a high rate. He’ll be a trusted leader asked to chip in timely offence and hold his own defensively against Canada, USA and Sweden.
Haula has represented Finland at the U-17s, U-18s, World Juniors, World Championship and the World Cup of Hockey, winning silver at the World Championship and bronze at the U-18s. His experience playing with Finland will be vital in a tournament like the 4 Nations Face-off.
The Golden Knights will likely have representatives on Canada, Sweden and the USA but none on Finland.
