After days of blockbuster trades across the NHL, the Dallas Stars kept things rolling on Saturday morning, acquiring Mikael Granlund and Cody Ceci from the San Jose Sharks in exchange for a first-round and conditional third-round draft pick.
On the Sharks, Granlund was the team’s leading scorer with 15 goals, 30 assists, and 45 points in 52 games. The Stars will be his fifth NHL team, as the 32-year-old has played with the Minnesota Wild, Nashville Predators, and Pittsburgh Penguins.
In 871 career games, the veteran center has scored 172 goals and 417 assists for 589 points. Granlund is the 11th highest-scoring Finnish-born player in NHL history, chasing Sebastian Aho and Esa Tikkanen for a spot in the top 10.
Meanwhile, Ceci will join his third team in the past season, having skated with the Edmonton Oilers last year, playing in the Stanley Cup Final before a late summer trade sent him to the Sharks.

As a 12-year veteran, Ceci played with the Ottawa Senators, Toronto Maple Leafs, and the Penguins. He’s scored 52 goals and 174 assists for 226 points.
This is the second consecutive season the Stars have made a big trade for an elite player. They acquired defenseman Chris Tanev last year for their playoff push, which resulted in a Western Conference Final loss to Ceci and the Oilers.
Dallas is in second place in the Central Division with a 33-17-1 record and 67 points.
