Former Buffalo Sabres forward Dylan Cozens had a strong debut with the Ottawa Senators on March 8. During that matchup, the 6-foot-3 forward recorded an assist and threw a career-high nine hits.
Cozens followed up his excellent first game as a Senator with another great performance during Ottawa’s March 10 matchup against the Detroit Red Wings.
With 5:04 left in the third period, Cozens scored his first goal as a Senator. After receiving a great feed in front from Jake Sanderson, the former Sabres forward one-timed it home past Red Wings goaltender Cam Talbot.
Cozens’ first goal with the Senators was massive, too, as it was the game-winner. With this, the Senators secured two much-needed points and hold the first wild-card spot in the Eastern Conference standings.
While the sample size is small, it is fair to say that Cozens has had an incredible start to his Senators tenure. Sometimes a change of scenery benefits a player, and it will be fascinating to see if this ends up being the case with the former Sabre from here.
