The Winnipeg Jets seek revenge against the Vegas Golden Knights, hosting them in a battle of two of the top three teams in the Western Conference.
The first matchup between the two teams was back on Nov. 29, resulting in a 4-3 loss for the Jets. Cole Perfetti scored twice for the Jets, but a pair of goals from Brett Howden and Ivan Barbashev was enough for the Golden Knights to win in regulation.
Eric Comrie was in net for the Jets that night, but tonight, it’ll be the reigning and two-time Vezina Trophy winner, Connor Hellebuyck. He’ll be opposite Adin Hill, a Stanley Cup champion and the possible starting goaltender for Team Canada at the 4 Nations Face-Off.

The Jets’ first line was electric against the Boston Bruins on Tuesday, combining for four goals and eight points. They’ll be in tough against the Golden Knights’ top unit, which consists of Jack Eichel, Barbashev, and Mark Stone. Eichel is currently fifth in the NHL in points, Stone is fourth in points per game, and Barbashev is scoring on 27.7% of his shots.
Not only will slowing them down be difficult, but trying to generate offence against them is no small feat. They are all defensively responsible forwards, with long sticks to break up plays and are positionally sound without the puck.
Both clubs enter tonight’s game with top 10 power plays but bottom 16 penalty kills. The roster that remains disciplined could be the team leaving tonight’s game with two points.
