The Toronto Maple Leafs have placed former Columbus Blue Jackets forward Alex Nylander on waivers today.
Only a few weeks ago, he and his brother William Nylander were the talk of the NHL as they prepared for their first game in the NHL on the same team.

Unfortunately, due to the cap situation in Toronto and players returning from the IR, he needed to be waived to be sent back down to the AHL.
Last season, the Blue Jackets acquired Nylander in a trade with the Pittsburgh Penguins. After the trade, he had the best 23 games of his career with 11 goals and four assists for 15 points.

The Blue Jackets now have a chance to do the funniest thing. They could claim him and give him the opportunity to do the same thing as he did.
The odds of him being claimed are likely slim. But with the Blue Jackets being lower in the standings and are need of scoring help, it could make sense for them to put a claim in on him.
What’s Next – The Blue Jackets are back home on Thursday to play the Washington Capitals.
