Nashville Predators Recall Defenseman Spencer Stastney, Forward Ozzy Wiesblatt from AHL Milwaukee

The Nashville Predators have recalled defenseman Spencer Stastney and forward Ozzy Wiesblatt from the AHL’s Milwaukee Admirals ahead of Friday’s road contest against the Vancouver Canucks.

The moves have likely been made to address the recent injuries on Nashville’s blue line to Jeremy Lauzon and Adam Wilsby, as well as the potential suspension to top-six forward Zach L’Heureux, who will have a hearing Thursday for his slew foot penalty on Minnesota Wild defenseman Jared Spurgeon.

Stastney, who earned a two-year, $1.6 million contract after arbitration this summer, will be making his highly anticipated return to the Predators after missing all of training camp due to personal reasons. The 24-year-old defenseman did not appear in a game for the Admirals until Dec. 7, and he has one goal and two assists through 10 games for Milwaukee this season.

Wiesblatt, 22, was acquired from the San Jose Sharks in June in exchange for Egor Afanasyev. He 49 points in 128 career AHL games and has yet to make his NHL debut. He has seven goals and seven assists in 27 games for the Admirals this season.

The puck drops at Rogers Arena between the Predators and Canucks Friday at 9 p.m. CT.
