Late last month, the Philadelphia Flyers traded Morgan Frost and Joel Farabee to the Calgary Flames. One of the pieces they received from Calgary in the trade is forward Jakob Pelletier, and he has the potential to be a nice surprise for Philadelphia.

Pelletier was selected by the Flames with the 26th overall pick in the 2019 NHL Entry Draft. Following that, his time with the club mainly consisted of him bouncing back and forth between the NHL and AHL. He had trouble finding his fit with the Flames, and this change of scenery could do wonders for him.
Pelletier has also shown signs of breaking out this season. In 24 games with the Flames before the trade, he set new career highs with four goals, seven assists, and 11 points. This resulted in him staying on the NHL squad from December until the trade came to fruition. Before this, he started the season in the AHL with the Calgary Wranglers, posting three goals and 19 points in 20 games.
With this and Pelletier likely to have a more secure role on the Flyers, he could be a lovely addition to the Metropolitan Division’s roster. He is still just 23 years old, so there is also plenty of time to continue improving his all-around game. He has good upside, and his increase in offensive production this season demonstrates that.
It will be fascinating to see how much of an impact he makes with the Flyers once the 4 Nations Face-Off break is over from here.
