One of the best parts of outdoor NHL games are the jerseys. Every outside event involves each team customizing unique uniforms for the game.
The 2023 Stadium Series is no different. The Hurricanes and the Capitals are meeting today at Carter-Finley Stadium, the home of the NC State football team.
The Capitals are no strangers to these kinds of events. This is Washington’s second Stadium Series game and fourth total outdoor game, giving the organization another chance at adding a jersey to the rotation.
However, this is the first time Carolina has played in an outdoor contest. As a result, the Hurricanes have never had a specialized uniform for these kinds of games.

The Capitals have their secondary logo enlarged on the front of the jersey, the logo being known as the “Weagle”. It was introduced in 2007, featuring an eagle with wings that make a “W”. There is a silhouette of the United States Capitol’s dome on the bottom of the logo.
The Hurricanes jersey is the first to not feature white in the uniform, solely using black and red colors. According to Adidas, the angled numbers and letters in the jersey “signify the resistance of the force of a hurricane.”
