Crosby tallied two goals in back-to-back games, including game-winners against Anaheim and Montreal. Now, with 597 career goals, he is just three lamplighters shy of becoming the 21st player to reach 600.
Meanwhile, Crosby’s longtime rival, Alex Ovechkin, scored five goals and nine points in four games to win the week’s top honors.
As many know, the Washington Capitals captain is chasing Wayne Gretzky’s goal record and is now just 34 away from becoming the NHL’s all-time leader.
Ultimately, it was a clean sweep for Metropolitan Division teams, as Martin Necas (Carolina Hurricanes) was the week’s second-star thanks to nine points in three games.
