James Reimer made his first start with the Buffalo Sabres on Saturday night (Nov. 23) against the San Jose Sharks. It was a long time coming, as the veteran goalie signed with the Sabres during this past off-season but was claimed off waivers by the Anaheim Ducks in October. However, after appearing in two games with Anaheim, he was placed on waivers again, and the Sabres brought him back.

It was undoubtedly worth the wait, though, as Reimer put together an incredible performance against the San Jose Sharks. The 36-year-old saved 31 out of 33 shots to secure the win.
However, Reimer had one save that was clearly the best.
Reimer made an incredible spinning behind-the-back glove save on Sharks star rookie Macklin Celebrini’s one-timer that almost snuck by him. This was a prime scoring chance for Celebrini, but Reimer shut the door in a big way.

If Reimer continues to play like this for the Sabres, he could be an excellent backup for them moving forward.
