Should the New York Rangers go after Jesse Puljujärvi?
Puljujärvi cleared unconditional waivers on Sunday, paving the way for the Pittsburgh Penguins to terminate his contract according to Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman.

With Adam Edström out for two and a half to three and a half months with a lower-body injury, the Rangers could certainly use some more forward depth.
The big question is if Puljujärvi is the right player for the Rangers to pick up.
Puljujärvi was selected with the fourth overall pick in the 2016 NHL Draft as he came into the NHL with a lot of promise.
However, through his eight seasons in the NHL, he has failed to live up to the potential placed upon him before entering the NHL.
After a rough stint in Edmonton, Puljujärvi got another chance with the Carolina Hurricanes and when it didn’t work out in Raleigh, he was given a lifeline by the Penguins.
Teams seem to be holding onto hope that the 26-year-old could emerge as a promising player, but at this point, that’s yet to be seen.
It wouldn’t be a financial risk for the Rangers to take on Puljujärvi, but the team could likely find more reliable forward options either on the trade market or down in the American Hockey League with the Hartford Wolf Pack.
