The 2024-25 regular season is slowly coming to an end, with most teams in the NHL having 25 or fewer games left on their schedule. Among the group are the Vancouver Canucks, who, as of February 25, 2025, are down to 25 games remaining. While there is still plenty of hockey to play, Vancouver needs to start putting together multi-game win streaks if they have their sights on a berth in the 2025 Stanley Cup Playoffs.

After 57 games, the Canucks have put together a record of 26-20-11. The majority of their success has come on the road, as they have 34 points in 29 games away from Rogers Arena compared to 29 in 28 games at home. In total, Vancouver has 63 points but sits just outside the second wild card spot based on points percentage.
Currently, the West’s playoff bar is projected at 91 points. This means that the Canucks would need 28 points in their final 25 games in order to make the 2025 Stanley Cup Playoffs. While playing just over .500 hockey doesn’t sound like a daunting task, Vancouver does have a challenging schedule and will face quite a few other teams that are battling for playoff spots and positioning.
The big focus for the Canucks over their final 25 games should be winning in regulation. Of the final 25, Vancouver plays the Calgary Flames, the Utah Hockey Club, and the Colorado Avalanche once each. These are the three other teams projected to be fighting for the wild card spots, meaning the Canucks will need to find ways to beat them in regulation.
Vancouver also needs to ensure they pick up wins against teams that are projected not to make the playoffs. This includes the Anaheim Ducks, who they play three times, the San Jose Sharks, the Seattle Kraken and the Chicago Blackhawks. If the Canucks can pick up at least nine of 12 points over these six games, it should help push them over the top and into the postseason.
Based on the remaining schedule, not just for Vancouver but for other teams around the league, the Canucks should be able to secure a spot in the 2025 Stanley Cup Playoffs. That being said, it won’t be an easy task, as Vancouver still has a six-game eastern road trip as well as 10 games against Pacific Division rivals. If anything, the final few weeks of the regular season should be exciting as the Canucks look to secure a postseason berth in back-to-back seasons for the first time since 2013.
