It’s going to be a high-tempo game on national TV Thursday night, as the Oilers host the Lightning on ESPN.
Connor McDavid and Co. have been a bit underwhelming this season, sitting in fourth in the Pacific Division with a record of 25-18-3. However, the team is currently riding a four-game winning streak, coming off a big divisional win against the Kraken.
McDavid is the frontrunner for the Hart Trophy, leading the league in goals (38), assists (46) and points (84). The four-time Art Ross recipient is on pace to break his previous career-high of 123 points and needs just seven goals to surpass his career-best of 44 goals in a single season.

On the other side is a Lightning team once again in a position to make a run back to the Stanley Cup Final. The three-time defending Eastern Conference champions are on a five-game winning streak of their own, pushing their record to 29-13-1. Tampa Bay is in third place in the Atlantic Division.
Nikita Kucherov is pacing the offense, with team-highs in points with 64 and assists with 46. Brayden Point leads the team in goals with 26.
The two teams previously played in early November, with the Oilers skating to a close 3-2 victory in Tampa Bay. It was in that game that Evander Kane sliced his wrist, causing him to miss the last two months of play after undergoing surgery. However, he returned to the Edmonton lineup for the first time since the injury earlier this week.
