Harrison Burton provided one of the more emotional moments of the season when he held off Kyle Busch to win at Daytona in August and earn a playoff spot.
The victory was the 100th for Wood Brothers Racing and provided an uplifting moment for a team that finished nearly half the points races 30th or worse in 2024.
Burton’s lack of results led to a driver change for 2025 — Josh Berry will drive for the Wood Brothers. The 24-year-old Burton returns to the Xfinity Series, hoping that better results can lead to a return to Cup someday.

WHAT WENT RIGHT: Scored dramatic win at Daytona in August to earn his first Cup playoff bid. His other top 10 of the season was a 10th-place finish in the first Talladega race. Showed progress later in the season. He placed in the top 25 in eight of the last 12 races of the year (66.7% of the races).
WHAT WENT WRONG: He failed to finish seven races. Burton placed 30th or worse in 16 of 36 points races. He finished in the top 25 in 10 of 26 regular-season races (38.4%). Organization is aligned with Team Penske but couldn’t replicate the performance of those cars.
HARRISON BURTON SAID: “You look at a lot of NASCAR greats and their career paths are bumpy. … Life’s not a linear path. You kind of go up and down. I’ve learned a lot. I’m a better race car driver than I’ve been and going kind of now to the future have that confidence that I’ve gained through racing Cup.”
WHAT TO EXPECT IN 2025: Harrison Burton moves to the Xfinity Series and will drive for AM Racing, a Ford-backed team that had some nice results its first year with Brett Moffitt but didn’t see the results this past year with Hailie Deegan before parting ways with her midway through this past year. Burton will have Danny Efland as his crew chief. Jeremy Bullins moves to RFK Racing and will be Brad Keselowski’s crew chief in 2025.
