After recovering from a penalty early in the race and surviving a right-front tire rub from contact with Corey Heim on a late-race restart, Connor Zilisch was victorious in Saturday’s NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Circuit of The Americas.
Zilisch led 26 laps in the Focused Health 250, earning his second career win in the Xfinity Series. The driver of the No. 88 Chevrolet had to battle adversity after an early penalty for entering pit road while closed. He had to restart at the rear of the field before he suffered the that could have derailed his day.
In the final laps, Zilisch battled JR Motorsports teammate Carson Kvapil for the lead, making the race-winning pass with nine laps to go. Kvapil faded late when a right-front tire went down and had to pit in the closing lap, ultimately finishing 23rd.

William Byron, Sam Mayer, Austin Hill and Christian Eckes rounded out the top five.
Jesse Love, Taylor Gray, Ross Chastain, William Sawalich and Blaine Perkins completed the top 10.
