The last thing a 2006 Jeep Wrangler needs is more power. This one has a lot more power, courtesy of an 8.3-liter V-10 from a Dodge Viper. Know that this Jeep originally had a 4.0-liter straight-six with 190 horsepower; now, it has something like 500. It’s a remarkably clean build, and a previous Barrett-Jackson auction listing notes the engine swap was done in 2007. The Wrangler also has a re-trimmed, Viper-inspired interior, Dana 60 axles, 35-inch tires, and a bunch of aftermarket suspension components. Bring a Trailer says the 2,200 miles on the digital odometer is the milage post-engine swap.

There’s also retractable running boards, and steel bumpers front and rear, so despite the fact that this Jeep is very clean underneath, it should be plenty capable off-road. The combination of that torquey V-10 and a four-speed automatic should mean that you’ll hardly have to touch the throttle pedal when out rock crawling.

In the years since this Wrangler was new, Jeep has embraced high-powered off-roaders. It currently sells the Wrangler 392, which comes with a 6.4-liter V-8. But this is a different sort of unhinged. For starters, this is a TJ Wrangler, a model that debuted in the mid-1990s, and one that was designed to deal with a lot less power. Put another way, make sure you’re pointed very straight if you decide to open up that V-10.
