Kasey Kahne is set to run a NASCAR race in 2025.
Kahne, 44, will run the NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Rockingham Speedway in April with Richard Childress Racing, the team announced Friday in a press release.
Kahne will run a third entry in the No. 33 car, sponsored by HendrickCars.com, along with teammates Austin Hill and Jesse Love.
NASCAR is returning to Rockingham for the first time since the Craftsman Truck Series ran there in 2012.
“I’m excited to get back behind the wheel of a stock car, especially at a place like Rockingham Speedway,” Kahne said in the release. “Rockingham has been a special track throughout my career. I remember winning the Truck Series race in 2012 when the sport went back there last, so to be a part of the current return is cool.”
The NASCAR Xfinity Series race at Rockingham is set for 3 p.m. (CT) on Saturday, April 19. Fans can watch the race live on The CW.
Kahne won 18 NASCAR Cup Series races in his 15-year career. He won the Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway three times and the Brickyard 400 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway once. Kahne had 93 top fives and 176 top-10 finishes.
Throughout his NASCAR career, Kahne drove for Evernham Motorsports, Richard Petty Motorsports, Red Bull Racing and Hendrick Motorsports. Kahne currently races in the World of Outlaws sprint car series for his own team, Kasey Kahne Racing.
Kahne was named one of the 75 greatest drivers in NASCAR history during the sport’s 75-year celebration in 2023.
“Kasey is a great driver and a fierce competitor,” said Richard Childress, chairman and CEO of Richard Childress Racing. “Our Xfinity Series program is top notch. … With Kasey behind the wheel, we expect the No. 33 to have a shot at winning the race.”
