Dec. 3—The 500 Sprint Car Tour that was founded by Anderson Speedway in 2022 is planning on a nine-race schedule again in 2024.
The key event will be the 77th running of the Little 500 in May, which does not count toward the series championship.
The Little 500 delivered a memorable event last year with Caleb Armstrong passing Dakota Armstrong on the final lap to return his first victory in the May classic.
The series in 2024 will be making a first appearance at Winchester Speedway and Owosso Speedway in Michigan.
Adding Winchester Speedway is a plus for the series after the successful race last year at Salem Speedway with a similar design.
With the new management team at Winchester, which includes the officials with the Vores Compact Touring Series, adding a date at the Randolph County track was a natural fit.
There will be 500 Sprint Car tour events at Anderson Speedway, with return visits to Berlin Raceway, Salem Speedway, Toledo Speedway and Indianapolis Raceway Park.
The series expects to return to Kalamazoo Speedway in Michigan.
Kody Swanson won his second 500 Sprint Car championship last year, with 40 teams competing with the series.
Tyler Roahrig won four of the eight races but missed several events, which hindered his efforts at winning the championship.
Taylor Ferns was the first woman to win an event when she prevailed at Salem Speedway. Dakoda Armstrong, Swanson and Bobby Santos III all also recorded victories.
Roahrig has visited victory lane 11 times in the 26 races contested by the series and has swept the previous five races at Berlin Raceway.
Swanson is second on the all-time list of winners with five, with Kyle O’Gara recording three wins. Armstrong and Santos have two wins each, with Tanner Swanson and Billy Wease joining the list of race winners.
The Kenyon Midget Series, which partners with the Sprint Car tour, has races set for 2024 at Anderson Speedway for two events, the Indianapolis Speedrome for two races and Berlin Raceway.
The series will probably run companion events at Salem and Kalamazoo speedways.
Former Kenyon Midget Series champion Trey Osborne won rookie of the year honors with the USAC Silver Crown series.
