The second “big one” crash of Saturday night came with just eight laps to go in the Coke Zero Sugar 400 NASCAR Cup Series race at Daytona International Speedway.
A total of 14 cars were involved in the wreck on Lap 152.
Race leader Michael McDowell spun out, came down sliding across the field and was hit by Joey Logano in the inside lane. That sent McDowell’s No. 34 Mustang airborne.
Somehow, McDowell did not flip and the car landed upright, but was out of the race.
Others involved in the wreck along with McDowell and Logano included Kyle Larson, Justin Haley, Tyler Reddick and Bubba Wallace.
The race resumed with three laps to go after the caution. Josh Berry crashed after a bad push with two laps to go, forcing overtime.
A crash earlier in the race caused by Corey LaJoie, who gave Noah Gragson a bad push, involved 17 cars.
