CAMBRIDGE TWP. — NASCAR will be back once again to Michigan International Speedway next season, but with a bit of wrinkle to the schedule.
NASCAR announced Thursday the Cup Series will be back once again, along with the Craftsman Truck Series for the first time since 2019. The races will be held June 7-8 instead of the mid-August schedule it has been running with the Cup Series, Xfinity Series and ARCA Menards Series.
“We’re already known for producing high-quality and exciting racing at over 200 mph here at Michigan International Speedway, and now we get to add a bit more drama to our race weekend in 2025,” Michigan International Speedway president Joe Fowler said in a press release.
NASCAR announced a new in-season $1 million-to-win tournament. There will be three races to determine seeding for the tournament, the first of which will be the FireKeepers Casino 400 at MIS.
“To win in the Irish Hills and just a short distance from Detroit already brings great pride to drivers and manufacturers alike,” Fowler said in the release. “There will be more on the line as we help set the seeding for the new in-season tournament.”
The MIS race, along with the final two seeding races in Mexico City, Mexico and Pocono and the previous two at Charlotte and Nashville, will be aired on Amazon Prime as part of NASCAR’s new TV deal.
