The NASCAR Cup Series regular season concludes Sunday with the Southern 500 at Darlington Raceway with five drivers battling for a maximum of three spots.
Martin Truex Jr. should be OK in making the playoffs even with a new winner, and Ty Gibbs should be OK as long as there is not a new winner.
But Chris Buescher, Bubba Wallace and Ross Chastain will have everything to lose for the final spot as long as there is no new winner. Buescher leads Wallace by 21 points and Chastain by 27 coming into the weekend.
Practice and qualifying takes place on Saturday along with the Xfinity Series race at Darlington.
