Harrison Burton is now in the NASCAR Cup Series playoffs by way of Saturday’s win at Daytona, and the victory leaves Ross Chastain and Bubba Wallace with a lot of work to do next week.
Wallace finished sixth on Saturday but lost ground because of Burton’s win, vaulting the driver of the No. 21 Wood Brothers Racing Ford from 34th in points into the playoffs.
Chastain will have 27 points to make up on 16th place Chris Buescher, while Wallace will have a 21-point deficit heading into next Sunday’s regular season finale at Darlington.
Martin Truex Jr. still is not locked into the playoffs but has a 58-point cushion, while Ty Gibbs has a 39-point advantage over the cut line.
